Learning Language Arts Through Literature Grade 8, Teacher's Edition (Gray; 3rd Edition) Common Sense Press
The Learning Language Arts through Literature program is a complete language arts program for Grades 1-12. Using an integrated approach to teaching, students learn communication skills in the context of quality literature that makes not only makes reading more attractive, but creates a deeper understanding of grammar, writing mechanics, vocabulary, spelling, and other language skills.
The Gray Book is designed for students in 8th grade. Students will enjoy reading the chosen literature books (not-included) as they study a broad spectrum of language arts skills. This Teacher's Book provides parents with easy-to-use lessons that require little to no preparation. Lessons are divided by days, with step-by-step instructions that closely follow the student book; in addition, answers and additional teacher notes are provided in the margins.
This course includes 36 lessons that cover grammar, spelling, higher order thinking, and study skills as well as punctuation, capitalization, parts of speech, grammar, and creative writing through dictation exercises. A five week Writing Unit prepares students for high school writing and research and provides continued study in prefixes, suffixes, and roots words. Review activities and assessments are also integrated throughout.
The updated third edition of the Gray Level now uses "Daddy Long Legs" in place of "Across Five Aprils." In addition, detailed analogy studies have been added to the lessons. Please note that the 2nd and 3rd Editions of the Green level are not compatible.
