The "English Grammar Recitation" program is designed to be consistent with the trivium stages of learning; this grammar-level curriculum emphasizes the memorization of facts as the first necessary preparation for logic-level skills of diagramming and analysis.

This workbook provides the exercises for the catechism-like recitations of questions, answers, and examples found in the English Grammar Recitation book (sold-separately). Book 3 covers sentence complements, finding the subject, pronouns, verbs, adverbs (modifying verbs and adjectives) and conjunctions. Students memorize the terminology and definitions of analytical grammar in the same way that they memorize forms in Latin; students will master and be able to recite 37 grammar rules, and expand on capitalization and punctuation rules taught in the previous two levels.

Brief exercises, including copywork, oral quizzes, editing, and diagramming, do accompany these grammar questions; however, the mastery of the English grammar catechism is the primary goal of this course, not its application. Capitalization and punctuation is also covered through recitation.

Closely following Latin grammar, this series corresponds loosely to the five levels of Memoria Press Latin; Book 3 corresponds with Second Form Latin. Designed to work in a classical educational structure, this course was designed to take less time than a typical English grammar course in order to leave more time for composition and Latin.

Book 3 - Grade 6. 99 pages, softcover. Consumable softcover workbook.
